We hope your child never needs this knowledge, but
if you discuss this information with your child (preferably
each time you go on an outing), then if he or she does
get lost, it may help him or her to remember one or
more of the facts that will make the search short and
successful.

What To Do If Lost:
-
Stay put, do not travel any further once you realize
you are lost
-
Make yourself visible
-
Hang a bandana or any article that will attract
attention in a tree
-
Use a signal mirror (a CD is a great reflector)
to draw attention to yourself
-
Make yourself heard ... blow a whistle
-
Make shelter. Using a large trash bag, make a hole
in the bottom and place over your head like a raincoat
-
Stay warm and dry
-
Remain safe
